The Library
The Library of SNIL is considered as ‘heart’ of the academic institution and has wide range of general and special subjects comprising of text books, reference books, back volumes of journals and reports etc., apart from current legal periodicals. It has an open access system to facilitate readers to have easy access to the resources and has proposals to establish links with other important libraries so as to make the users to avail facility of the inter-library access and computerized book-catalogues. It has an inbuilt orientation programme for new students for acquainting them with the system and service for maximization of reaping the utility of the available resources.
In order to reach out to the social needs, SNIL has a Legal Aid Clinic to serve better to the disadvantaged sections of people for settlement of their disputes.
Apart from that the institute has formed various cells and societies like
Internet Facilities-The campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Twenty-four hours internet facility is ensured through Wi-Fi and Wired Connectivity through leased line of internet connections.
Curriculum and Pedagogy:
The Curriculum is designed by the Board of Studies (BOS) consisting of persons having adequate experience in Academics and Practice. It is designed keeping an eye on overall knowledge enrichment in the field of law and looking into the needs of the contemporary world of corporate, courts, practitioners, business houses etc.
The curriculum followed in SNIL is in compliance with the provisions of Bar Council of India. With the basic aim to reduce the gap between theory and practice, principles and precepts, the methodology adopted is focused on imparting legal education which is inclusive of classroom deliberations and practical exposures. Apart from this, the institute fosters the academic and research ambience to make it conducive to the holistic development of each student and scholar.
Infrastructural Facilities:
Classrooms-All the classrooms of the Institute are spacious and air conditioned. The classrooms are e-enabled with power point projectors and audio-visual inputs, which provides a viable environment for education.
Special Conference Hall, Group Discussion Rooms, Convention Hall, Moot Court Hall, Parliamentary Debate Hall are the part of the physical infrastructure aimed to provide inclusive learning.
Moot Court Hall-The Moot Court events sharpen the advocacy, mediation and negotiation skills of the students. Integration of Moot Court exercise in the curriculum ensures a thorough and complete understanding of court room procedures and intricacies. The Moot Court Hall is well equipped with the technical requirements to provide requisite exposures to the students in intra-semester, state level and national level Moot Court Competitions.
Parliamentary Debate Hall- The institute has well furnished and well equipped Parliamentary Debate Hall to conduct events of state and national level.
Hostel Facility-There are separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The halls of residence are the home away from home for the students. It has capacity to enable the students to widen their horizon and acquire inter-personal skills. The hostel life is fully secured and the activities of borders are constantly monitored through the vigilant security services.
Forums and Societies:
The institute envisions creating an interactive and cohesive learning system with enthusiastic participation. To nourish the potential of the students in all its form and prepare them to accept challenges in the world of competition, it has formed various societies and cells to address the needs of academia and facilitate a holistic development in terms of participation in events of curricular and extra-curricular nature.
Moot Court Society (MCS)-The Moot Court Society (MCS) of the institute is a student-faculty coordinated society whose objectivesis to develop advocacy skills amongst the students, to make them aware of the intricacies of the court procedures and to prepare the students for effective participation in various National and International Moot Court Competitions.
Lex Literary Society (LLS)-The Institute has pioneered the concept of asociety whichtakes up activities like Debate Competition, Group-Discussion, Quiz Competitions, Extempore, Mediation (Negotiation), Client Counseling, Awareness Programmes and varied others creative events under its ambit for overall development of the students.
Civil Law Cell (CLC)-The Institute has a Civil Law Cell (CLC) which looks into events and programmes like Workshop, Seminar,and Symposium etc. to facilitate and promote research oriented skills and develop an attitude of understanding towards various critical socio-legal issues.
Cultural Society (CS)-The cultural society conducts extra-curricular activities to take out the talent and skills of the students in various fields of interest and promote the creative and innovative instincts of the students in the choose areas.
Centre for Legal Aid and Social Responsibility (CLASR)-The Centre caters to the need of the society by contributing to the common good by conducting awareness programmes on various socio-legal issues, legal aid camps and street plays with an objective of sensitizing the public on their rights and helping them in proper redressal.
Legal Aid Clinic and the Legal Aid Counseling Centre- These centres serve the disadvantaged sections of people in settling their disputes. The students are given training and exposure to acquire mediation, negotiation, and conciliation competencies. The Centre works closely with the help of SOA Community Radio System (90.4 FM) to attain the above social responsibilities.
