SOA hosts Second International Extension Education Congress-2025
The three-day Second International Extension Education Congress 2025 was inaugurated at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) in collaboration with the Society of Extension Education, Agra, and Central University of Odisha, Koraput.
The event, held at the College of Agriculture, has the theme “Rethinking Social Ecology in a Digital Landscape” focusing on how digital technologies are reshaping the relationship between humans and their social environment.
Addressing the inaugural function, SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda emphasized that the congress would go a long way in benefitting researchers, students and professionals in agriculture and allied fields.
Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean of Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), delivered the welcome address. The occasion also marked the unveiling of the 25th anniversary logo of the Indian Research Journal of Extension Education (IRJEE).
The other dignitaries present included Prof. Jitendra Kumar Chauhan, Secretary General of Society of Extension Education, Agra, who highlighted the achievements of SEE and IRJEE, Prof. Debabrata Basu, Vice Chancellor of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal, Prof. M. S. Chauhan, Vice Chancellor of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology and Prof. N. C. Panda, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Odisha, Koraput. They spoke on climate change, its impact on agriculture and society, and the role of social media and modern knowledge systems in addressing environmental challenges.
The congress was organized under the chairmanship of Prof. M. Premajit Singh, former Vice Chancellor of Central Agricultural University, Imphal, with Prof. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor of CAU, Imphal, being the chief guest. They highlighted the opportunities created by linking on-line engagement with off-line environmental action.
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to notable personalities including Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda (SOA), Prof. N. C. Panda (CUO, Koraput), Prof. M. S. Chauhan (GB Pant University), Prof. Anupam Mishra (CAU, Imphal), Dr. M. B. Chhetri (Sanskrit University, Mathura), Prof. S. K. Meti (UAS, Raichur) and Dr. Anitha Kumari P. (ICAR-CPCRI, Kayamkulam). Additionally, Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout received the SEE Fellow Award.
The three-day program is being overseen by Prof. Rout as Chair of the Executive Committee while Prof. Bibudh Parashar is the Co-Chair. Dr. Anshuman Jena, Associate Professor, is the Organizing Secretary of the event.
