SOA Faculty Of Dental Sciences secures Align University Collaboration
The Institute of Dental Sciences (IDS), faculty of dental sciences of SOA Deemed to be University here, has secured the ALIGN University Grant-APAC, a significant industry-academia collaboration involving ALIGN Technology Inc, USA.
This marks the first ever industrial collaboration for IDS with the world’s No. 1 aligner opening global avenues in orthodontic education and research in its program.
This grant provides funding and mentorship international experts for post-graduate students to work on projects involving clear-aligner technolog, 3D printing and patient outcomes with focus on innovations for the Asia-Pacific region,
It will provide students with hands-on experience in digital orthodontics and foster collaborative research.
The ALIGN University Grant-APAC is linked to Align Technology’s annual research award program for universities in the Asia-Pacific region to fund orthodontic and dental research.
The initiative was conceived by the institute’s Department of Orthodontics with strategic planning with the involvement of Prof. (Dr.) Ruchi Bhuyan, Dean of IDS, Prof. (Dr.) Pritam Mohanty, Professor and Head, Department of Orthodontics and other faculties of the department.
“This collaboration is worth Rs. 2.11 crore which will enable young orthodontists and researchers to avail world class opportunities. It is a proud moment for the institute to lead an Asia-Pacific initiative with international recognition,” Prof. (Dr.) Bhuyan said.
The post-graduate students, in particular, will benefit from the alliance as they will receive hands-on exposure to cutting-edge digital orthodontics, collaborative research and pathways to international publications, she said adding it would be absolutely free for enrolled students for any national or international program conducted by Aligner forum during the grant period.
With this launch, IDS has become one of the few Indian institutions to host a globally recognized industry-academic collaboration in orthodontics, reinforcing its status as a leader in post-graduate dental education, Prof. (Dr.) Bhuyan said.
