Undergraduate Education in Orthodontics
Undergraduate Program in orthodontics is designed to enable the qualifying dental surgeon to diagnose, analyze orthodontic problem. It enables them to treat common orthodontic problems by preventive, Interceptive and corrective orthodontic procedures. This education enables the student to have a in depth knowledge about growth and development, diagnosis, treatment planning, material science, biomechanical aspects of appliance and management of different malocclusion.
Our motto is to create an continuous learning environment for the PG students throughout the curriculum, which shall make them come out as efficient & c o n f i d e n t clinicians able enough for future development and research. Team of teachers headed by Prof. Dr Smruti Bhusan Nanda, one professor, three readers and one senior lecturer are dedicated as a strong coherent team for making the aforesaid goal a reality.
Postgraduate Education in Orthodontics
The Post Graduate training program in orthodontics is of three years duration starting with preclinical work including Typodont exercises of Begg, Pre-Adjusted Edgewise (PEA), lingual appliances, Cephalometrics, Model analysis and clinical photography. Post graduates treat patients presenting with various malocclusions with a special care for the cleft palate patients. Regular seminars and Journal Club reviews is an essential part of the training program. The P.G. students are required to prepare a dissertation as a partial fulfillment of MDS requirements. The students are encouraged to attend the National Specialty Conference in Orthodontics and present papers and posters. The post graduate Department is well equipped with 12 Dental chairs units and has all the laboratory equipments and materials required for various purposes.
The post graduate students are trained in pre-adjusted edgewise appliances, lingual orthodontics, growth modulation procedures & surgical orthodontics. The department has the latest versions of the Dolphin Imaging system for better diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment prediction. Regular workshops, seminars & continuing dental education are conducted in the department to update the knowledge and skills in the field of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics.
